In the exhibition at PireeLab, Igor Borisov will present a body of work created in France for Greece. The artist paints between his two studios located in France and in Kimolos.

The exhibition features a series of works made on canvases and wood, as well as a mural created on the gallery’s floor.

Igor’s biggest inspiration is the island of Kimolos, where he is a local since he was 20 years old. For 40 years he has been embraced by the local community and have become one of them.

Undoubtedly a creative spirit, Igor had a successful career for many years as a fashion kids photographer for international magazines and brands such as Vogue Bambini, Giorgio Armani, Burberry and others.

The creation of his paintings is based on his abstract inspiration from his passion of “apnea” and meditation through Artzentiera’s Cosmos and Sea, which was developed during his years in Kimonos.

The Venetians called Kimolos Artzentiera from the silver soil found on the rocks of the island. The images of the Aegean Sea waters and volcanic seabed are engraved deep in his memory and resurface when he decides to paint, inspired by the Cycladic arts and Mythology and the characteristic white buildings of the islands which shine in the sun, resulting in the creation of a fantastic and inexhaustible marine cosmos and universe on his paintings.

It was essential to the artist for the exhibition to be held at Pireaus port, as it will be an ode to his countless travels from and to the island of Kimolos from there.

In Igor's work the natural movement of the brush and the roundness of the line communicate simplicity - echoing the simplicity inherent in Greece.
