OKAY initiative space invites you to "Salty Tissue" Anna Jarosz' first solo exhibition in Greece. On Thursday 12/01 at 19:00, 7 Kefallinias, Kipseli
Anna Jarosz (1996, PL) is a multimedia artist that explores trauma and the experience of the female living body as a collective memory, by composing installations as participatory experiences.
In "Salty Tissue" the artist occupies the exhibition space with salt and plays around with the shapes of bedsheets, gifted and hand sewn by her grandmother. She experiments with water and the forms of salt, creating her personal salt scape, a hybrid system of "human body tissues", soaking in pink lakes, lakes that seem to have abstractly splashed the clean sheets. A choreographed laundry, aimed to never drain.
Light and movement in space cause a constant mutation of the piece, while salt acts as a means of protection and the core ingredient that preserves the memory of the women of this family. The fabrics and lakes crystallize day by day, hiding the most delicate secrets that the artist and the visitors may have.
An "art preservation" process that leads to metamorphosis, an oxymoron.
By entering the space you accept the artist's invitation to become a collaborator to this fragile piece.
A floating artwork that resembles the essence of our bodies. A transformation of our collective memory.
