Curatorial note:
It’s running - you stay behind – it’s lost.
Do we ever catch up?
Lefteris Papazoglou fights against the oblivion of the real moment and attempts to capture its emotional and kinesiological load. Through the use of analog media, as well as the technique of long exposure, he attempts to "write with light" by researching the eternal relationship between human and time - which is always moving in one direction. The primary depiction of his compositions is made in a photographic film, in black and white and without further processing, giving an immediate but rich result. Through the freezing of the whole movement, from intention to completion (?), perhaps also of its subcutaneous dispositions, unexpected visual aspects and readings are revealed and/or created.
The visual narrative composition consists of a set of choices, through the photographer's many years of work, which proposes a new storytelling about the hunt of time, its remnants and the potential entrapment of the dynamics of an emotion, a movement, a story in a “material” memory. Geometric shapes, forms, symbolisms and the handmade objects of the artist become co-protagonists in the space-time continuum that hosts the surreal chaos of existence, but also its loss. The improvisation and the abstract results of self-illuminated beings, complete the dialogue for the creation of an imaginary universe that invites us with a nostalgic and/or eerie note to get to know it.
Thus, we are led to photographic depictions of a mystical, almost ritualistic, character that suggest just that: a complex recording of the whole moment, saving its impetuous range, and of the other, parallel world or second self that co-exists in reality. A human-centered imprint of the "back text" and open possibilities.
Does the hunt ever end?
The narrative remains open.
