CURRENT Athens is an online platform for the non-hierarchical promotion of contemporary art.
On Friday, 11th of October we present a soundscape duo that plays a rendition of ethnic and ambient sounds. Irfan Razib and Jihan Salleh will create a site-specific performance in collaboration with Wak Kangthat merges and resonates with the atmosphere of A - DASH. The performance will last around 30-45 minutes.
Kicau-Bilau is a wordplay intended as an opposite to the Malay reduplicative word “kacau-bilau” which bears the similar meaning and linguistic trait of “helter-skelter” or “topsy-turvy”. Kicau-Bilau literally translates as ‘arbitrary chirping. They will perform during their tour Nusantrik — a combination of the word Nusantara (Malay Archipelago) of where the duo comes from and the word eksentrik, or eccentric. Playing Nusantara (South-East Asia) soundscape, using traditional instrument called Angklung and guitar.
