This exhibition intends to emphasize the emergent as a condition in which someone is required to react and problem solve. Typically, the emergent occurs while a course of actions that is evolving slowly and quietly, and suddenly appears as an unexpected event – a natural disaster, a war, a financial crash.
In the recent years – in Greece initially but globally as well – we experience extreme situations that suddenly occur or break out and have wide consequences in political, social or individual levels. As a reaction to the lack of finding a solution, a new condition is created at which we survive, within this new existing framework – sometimes while getting used to this pathogenic reality and others just being indifferent towards it. The meaning of the emergent as something “short and sudden” contradicts the meaning of permanent. This artistic event aims to remark this paradox and pathogenic situation through an exhibition of mixed means.
This situation that shapes through diverse elements, contradictions and paradoxes is the main subject that this exhibition intends to comment on by addressing questions. The occasions for the conversation are the Greek and global economy, the refugee crisis, the sense of identity that gets reformed and reconstructed, and tradition as well as matters that concern the innermost and the internal and draw concerns upon the global political spotlight (the situation in Turkey, the U.S.A election, Brexit) and transforms into ideas- thoughts; and a global domino where fear, insecurity and uncertainty prevails. This exhibition is/constitutes the first part of a wider project.
