KPS invites you to an open studio event 'Still Alive And Well' this weekend, Saturday 10th & Sunday 11th, 1pm - 5pm.
Come and see the work of Jakob Eskofier and Esben Sonne, an artist/design duo from Germany.
They have been in residence for 6 weeks and will showcase some of the screen prints and collages they have been working on. The two focus on a visual world that lies between figurative and abstract compositions.
They work with analogue techniques such as paper cutting, collage, monotype and drawings. They are interested in converting digital aesthetics into analogue printing techniques such as silkscreen and risograph. At the centre of their practice is a rich playfulness that is enhanced by the two working collectively. Coloured paper is always the starting point, and through cutting, combining shapes with one another and over painting them, the shapes start to dance. At the heart of the work is an abstract visual storytelling language which pushes the viewer into an absurd and playful world. Studio founder and artist Eleanor Lines will be showing her new 'Doors of Kypseli' poster which is part of an extended research project about the doors of Kypseli.
They will be available for purchase and all proceeds go towards supporting the development and printing of the book which she will be self-publishing in 2023.
The book will document over 100 doors in the area as illustrations with supporting texts by invited writers.
