Phoenix Athens presents a solo exhibition of Leandros Pigades. The multi-media artist, based in New York and Athens invites the viewer to embark on a detournement of time and space. An experiment in situational awareness and cultural appropriation. the exhibition explores the relationship between the universality of myth and aestetic-terrorism.

The artist weaves a cinematic narrative encouraging the viewer to question their perceptions by exploiting the gentrifying anarchist hotbed of Exarchia and using it as a platform for dialogue into the`post-crisis” era.

An advocate of the avant garde post-humorist art movement, Pigades practice, inherently derivative, insists that it is not unique but continues the tradition of appropriation which juxtaposes new and old ways of art making as a projection on the future.
