It's been already a year since Communitism's last thematic event, and our team is happy to invite you to our new open social week. We have been preparing a special programme full of workshops, performances, discussions and celebrations !

Everything begun in March while crafting clothes, sharing skills in a process of horizontal learning workshops. By reshaping old pieces of fabric and giving them a second life, it felt like the whole world could be reshaped by common work and creativity.

This is what the weekend events want to suggest : past is faded, let’s tear it apart. But future is not an easily accessible goal that you can just order and wait for. It takes actions in the present to build it in a beautiful, sustainable, and inventive way.

Sunday 26/05: ContemporaryMythology

An excersise in critically addressing the future | Lecture-workshop by Isabelle Vuong

During the rest of the week, the activities of our sociocultural center will be presented, suggesting how active citizens can bring social change while generating new ideas for future projects and community collaboration. The users of the building will be holding openly their usual programme, but we will have collective cooking and music every night!

Monday 27/05 : Typografeio - Creative space opens its doors : come participate in building fournitures or just chill in their Napping Hostel. The Initiative of Restless Tanger@s (Πρωτοβουλία Ανήσυχων Τανγκέρων) will hold a workshop/open-class of Alternative Tango, and you are all invited to danse after in the Milonga night

Tuesday 28/05 : You may want to follow the Workshop about Community Building that will take place tuesday. The Syrian & Greek Youth Forum / SGYF will present their work and the space Plenum. In the evening, they will play for us with their world-music band, Musikarama

Wednesday 29/05 : Let's make some noiz project has been keeping the spaces noisy for the winter: They have now become a Kids brass band and invite you to their performance. And right after this, we are inviting you to a nice CommuniJam Session evening

Thursday 30/05 : Butterflies & Camels sewing workshop will be up and running for the day. Zoristirio free-shop will also be open and hold a bazaar ! Also, the Ithaka Laundry is going to present their initiative. At night, let's have Social Thursday with Αγία Φανφάρα brass band

Friday 31/05 : A Yoga class will be held on the roof terrace. In the afternoon, we will be happy to present again Butterflies & Camels outfits through a fundraising auction for the workshop. At night, The unsound mind will play chilling music.

Collective cooking at 2 PM everyday + Music every night !

You must wonder WHY we picked Butterflies & Camels as symbols
Butterflies are light and buoyant, they pollinate from flower to flower, following the wind and the ephemeral changes of season. Camels are self-sufficient, carrying their own water, moving through life with steady strength; always remembering a face or their way home.
We envision people of Athens as Butterflies and Camels living in separate territories. We want to facilitate processes towards natural, circular, economic practices suggesting that we can coexist sustainably if we support each other by combining our competencies.
So ? Are you more Butt or Cam ?
