CURRENT Athens is an online platform for the non-hierarchical promotion of contemporary art.
Monday-Friday: 12:00-18:00,
Saturday by appointment
The seed of the current exhibition grew from a smaller show at the Royal College of Art, which presented prints made by the artist during a series of residencies in Paphos, Istanbul and Sicily which focused on memorials, souvenirs and inscriptions. A continuing fascination with language and typography is reflected in the outcome of this second residency in Exarchia, taking the work in a new direction, combining collage with printmaking.
Paphos, Istanbul and Athens have all been illustrious capitals, their former glory evidenced by spectacular sites and finds. However, the contemporary midden heap can supply equally fascinating material that tells other stories.

About the artist
Jennifer Harding (b. 1956), is currently based in London.
The artist's abiding interest in the cultures of the eastern Mediterranean was first established during a visit to Cyprus in 1979 where she studied under the Cypriot artist Stass Paraskos. A scholarship year in Athens deepened local knowledge, both historic and contemporary, while time spent working in archaeology in Turkey gave a counterbalancing perspective.
