For the first time ever, an alliance of Hong Kong's foremost creatives is here in Athens to present a multi-sensory group exhibition which merges visual arts, video installation, choreography, and music within the storied tapestry of Athens. The context of the exhibition is highly relevant in the current context of post-colonial democracies and the stories which these artists carry with them
"Some Shreds", unfolds in Athens, a city renowned for its unwavering dedication to preserving historical and artistic heritage, epitomised by the Athens Charter. This exhibition showcases a diverse group of contemporary artists who explore how collective memory can be a burden that is just as unreliable as collective guilt. It emphasises the importance of salvaged fragments in shaping a society's narrative of its past and future while celebrating the importance of the new, the living, and the spontaneous. The subtitle, "Happening at the Edge", reflects the creators' fascination with these interstitial and peripheric vibrations through a diverse collection of fringe elements.
Curated by Ying-yi Ho, whose background is rooted in architectural conservation training, the showcase intertwines visual arts installation by Ken Chung, choreography and video work by Max Lee.
A music performance led by percussionist Chronicle Li and cellist Tim Tong accompanies video work by Carlos Leung for both opening nights on Oct. 13th & 14th.
Opening of the Exhibition with the presence of the artists: October 13 and 14, 2023, 7 p.m. – 11 p.m. (Live music & performance at 8pm and 9pm respectively)
