T.A.F. / the art foundation presents the project Momentary Lapse Of A Shutter, which inaugurates in its exhibition space on Thursday 05 October 2023, and hosts the works of the photographic group Spontaneous Shooters. A unique photographic project created over the last year that highlights the hidden, often overlooked, side of the city we live in. Through the eyes of 42 photographers, the viewer discovers the interaction between human and urban location through a variety of photographic techniques.
With street photography and spontaneous moments between their photographic wanders as their main focus and under the guidance of photographer Andreas Kamoutsis, the Spontaneous Shooters team dares to create its own photographic style through the visual language of the art of photography. Exhibition prints are sponsored by Fujifilm Hellas.
The work focuses on a plethora of elements that exist around us from fleeting shadows to asymmetrical portraits in a rich colour palette, lending an air of mystery to the city that we don't usually encounter in our daily journeys. The photographs attempt to capture the change that the passage of time brings about, in the way we see the city and the people who live in it. From shadows that change form, with the lighting of the sunset to unusual portraits that depict people with their inner thoughts and feelings, the exhibition highlights the beauty and complexity of the city and its people.
Through "Momentary Lapse of A Shutter", the Spontaneous Shooters team invites us to look at the city in a different perspective, to discover the small details that often go unnoticed and to think about the way it affects our lives and the human experience. It is a beautiful approach to photography that highlights the importance of art in detecting beauty in everyday life and in the human condition.
