Okay Initiative space invites you to the solo show of the German artist, Lucia Graf, on Thursday 30/3 after 19:00. It is about a site-specific installation with her present, performing reading performances during opening hours.

Since 2017, Lucia Graf's work has explored an assortment of oracle techniques — from reading coffee cups, Tarot cards, dreams and visiting ancient Greek oracle sites — through the use of text, print, installation and reading performances. Oracles are places of communication. They are places that contain, store and pass on information. Consulting from an oracle presupposes uncertainties, questions that invite you to travel, listen and speak. But oracles say nothing, reveal nothing, they always remain vague. They do not provide any certainty, but rather hints and signs, confront uncertainty with ambiguity and thus contribute to our reflection.
Interpreting these hints affords courage to raise one's own power of judgement to become the interpreter — to observe oneself and the world as attentively as possible. Oracles (in)secure the self, turn questions into riddles.
Lucia is interested in the attention to oneself and the world increased by the oracles, the reading and relating of signs, the play with the signs. Her interest in oracles led her again and again to Greece. Based on a trip last spring she conceived her solo exhibition The Living Oracle, first part shown at ODP Galerie in Leipzig, Germany, and now presenting the second part, with a new version, at Okay initiative Space in Athens, Greece.
