"The Aftermath" by Gianni Kazakis explores the personal and emotional aftermath of losing his scholarship due to the bad management of the school's administration during the pandemic. The exhibition details his journey from Italy to the United States, working in factories and doing midnight dishwashing jobs. Through a variety of mediums, such as paintings, sculptures, and installations, the exhibition delves into the themes of loss, displacement, and the resilience of the human spirit.
The artist uses his own experiences as a starting point to explore the broader, universal themes of how people cope with unexpected challenges and setbacks in life. The exhibition is a powerful and moving display of how art can be used to process difficult personal experiences and transform them into something that resonates with viewers on a deeper level.
Kazakis's pieces of art are raw and emotive, also exploring the meaning of being an immigrant, the struggles of being an artist and the different stages of acceptance of a loss.
Overall it is a powerful, thought-provoking exhibition that encourages the viewer to reflect on their own experiences with loss and resilience.
