PS: is proud to present Sophia Savagner

By revisiting the childhood memory of bedroom night lamps, Sophia Savagner remembered the monsters of anguish created by the meeting point of her mental projections and the shadow projections. Project Space will be presenting her installation Close the Door ; a room where floating painted silhouettes dialogue with unsettling and mesmerizing creatures. She created this composition based on the uncanny idea of illusion of presence and the way we defend ourselves against it.

Sophia Savagner is a franco-american visual artist, from South of France. After studying psychology, she decided to start a new artistic life by moving to Athens in 2020.
She mainly creates masks and paintings that revolve around the concepts of Death, Nature, and Transformation. Her work currently questions the idea of dimensionality of surfaces. She explores the way images have a substance in psychological and proprioceptive terms. Some of her masks were based on specific individuals, while others have a more animist quality.
She also photographs the masks being worn, to capture the body as an ephemeral sculpture. Her artworks are made out of recycled material such as fabric and paper, in an eco-alchemist approach.
