SNEHTA is happy to announce a new body of work by Polish American artist Kasia Kay who has been an artist in residence since early September.
The exhibition will showcase Kay’s sculptural and mixed media works inspired by her three-year-long stay in Athens during the years 1998-200 and her return to the city now to pursue a solo residency at SNEHTA. Through her works in the exhibition, the artist reflects on her life cycle that connects the past years and the present time. Often in her artwork, Kay dives into introspection, her personal life journey inspired by everyday ritualistic objects such as universal “prayer beads.” Such objects become personal allegories and material epigrams of the circle of life. The use of the string of beads (κομπολόι), and closed circles are perennial expressions of the notion of equilibrium and flow. Stemming from a deeper impression of the Attican landscape the artist has returned to commemorate her previous venture by creating a new one.
