#2 The exhibition Nymphaea presents a visual dialogue between Alexandros Garnavos and Danae Panagiotidi. In every photographic series, each photograph serves as a counterpoint for the others and hence various individual narratives are created, allowing the viewer to actively participate in forming personal interpretations. Both artists are examining through their practice, photography as a mechanism of memory preservation and construction and therefore they capture moments of their daily life. All photographs displayed, center around the idea of the seen and the unseen ranging from faceless figures or limbs of their bodies and objects that have been used or left behind. Such representations clearly refer to notions of life’s presence and absence creating a sense of dream, melancholy, mystery, and inwardness.
