CURRENT Athens is an online platform for the non-hierarchical promotion of contemporary art.
"Enclouding", the upcoming show of Grigoria Vryttia, is a show that focuses on processes and material properties more than on end-results and completed works of art. In itself it is a work in progress.
The gallery space will turn into a grand sculptural installation and the artist will add and remove work on a daily basis, transforming and treating the space as the inside of an organism.
Special attention will be given to the idea of inversions, starting from reviling the back side of works, creating "nests" of raw materials and finally inverting the flow of time, omitting vernisage and finissage.
Guests are welcome any day from the 16th to the 25th of November, from 12-4 and by appointment at 6973239815 if those hours are not convenient, with a big social gathering in the middle, Wednesday the 20th of November, late afternoon.
Clouds, totem and fetish, internal organs and tents will invert gravity and make an obscure allusion to environmental issues as the melting of the polar ice and eventual flooding of the world. As that it is part of the concept of the "plastic shaman", a series of works on a dystopian comedy, where the ice has melted, the available surface is limited and the inhabitants of the planet live also underwater and on flying cities.
The last inversion will be that of asking the visitors to participate actively by adding a story or a sketch on a surface and with a subject that will be provided by the artist.
I will also ask you to take off your shoes so please, have an extra pair of socks or indoors sleepers.
