Sarah completed a 2-month residency course at Phoenix Athens where she continued a series of relation works based on memory and time.
The show deals with personal stories, memories and oral history. The intention is to depict both an intimate connection to one's past, and a dissonance to that same thing, or to respond to some imperative innate to the story itself.
This project is inscribed in the continuity of her artistic practice linking, art, identity and time through objects, regardless of its symbolic importance or its apparent triviality. The objects here are the stories. The artist’s interest resides in a fascination with coherence in identity, collective and personal history and memory, stories becoming myth, and the blurred appearance of static identity.
The viewer is invited to familiarize themselves with the works and begin an internal search, confronting their own ancestors’ personal story in order to better understand who they are and how one is influenced by his or her own past.
The performative piece " tangible proof of the existence of love in this world" will take place on Thursday at 6pm.
