Almost a year before Angelos Delivorrias passed away, he organized with Tassos Mantzavinos the "return" of the painter to the Benaki Museum, this time as "Dragon". Inside the Ghika Gallery, next to Karyotakis' works, to the works of Kontoglou and Spathari, Mantzavinos re-introduces to us the mythical creature as he experienced it through Karagiozis in a post-psychoanalytic and post-Kafkian interpretation. Constructions made of tin, wood and other materials gathered from Monastiraki, are transformed into dragons that pop out from the depths of the inner world to expose themselves.
The author with dedication crafts his "embroidery", as he likes to call these works, and he uses the brush, the cutter, the hand-scraping and the lines on the color, to give artistic form to the hidden existence. After the retrospective exhibition of the work of Mantzavinos (Benaki, Piraeus, 2012), the painter “talks” with the whole generation of the 30s, in perfect harmony within the spirit of Angelos Delivorrias, to whom he dedicates the event. A contributor to the exhibition and the accompanying book is the Giorgos N. Vogiatzoglou Gallery, with art historian Giorgos Mylonas as curator.
