Phoenix Athens presents the pop up show Economy of Line by Boem.
The title of the show refers to the visually minimalistic artwork overlooking the performative method of production. Economy is a word with an excessive use in a daily basis, holding the risk of misplacement. Boem uses its context as a means of exploration in relation to his artworks.
Central to the exhibition is the artist’s performance piece, which appears as an antithesis of the final minimal outcome. The performance will be interactive with the public, creating a dialogue between the audience and the space. For the production of the paintings, the artist focuses on the body movement and develops his own performative routine.
Boem’s early practice started with photography being the main medium. Photography was the tool to express what was seen and what was experienced. His need to express his inner self in relation to what is seen in reality led him to create the one line series of drawings.
For Economy of line Boem will be showing drawings, paintings and photography alongside a wearable textile piece made in collaboration with the fashion designer Myrto Xoudi.
